Our Journey
Native Industries is the culmination of more than two decades of Māori-led innovation in digital media, storytelling, education, and technology. Its roots trace back to TangataWhenua.com, founded in 2002 as one of Aotearoa’s first Māori-led ICT companies, created to challenge negative mainstream representations of Māori and build an independent digital voice.
From there, the journey expanded through national digital milestones, kaupapa-driven media innovation, the establishment of Digital Natives Academy, and the creation of Native Tech. Today, Native Industries carries that legacy forward into a new era of indigenous storytelling, creative design, and digital innovation.
